TALOA editorial standards: sources, corrections and how we separate fact from judgement

How TALOA Property Intelligence and The TALOA Edit use official sources, specialist publications, community and audience-interest signals, update dates, disclosures and corrections.

Updated September 6, 2026

A public standard for Property Intelligence and The TALOA Edit: source hierarchy, recommendation discipline, corrections and the limits of website guidance.

1. Facts start with the strongest available source

Legal, regulatory, safety and public-data claims are anchored first in Colombian authorities, legislation, regulators, official tourism bodies, technical institutions or the primary organization responsible for the fact. Specialist publications are used for context and interpretation, not to replace an available primary source.

2. Social media is a listening layer, not proof

Reddit, TikTok, Instagram and other community channels can reveal recurring questions, complaints, emerging venues and changes in traveler behavior. They do not establish that a business is safe, licensed, excellent or current. When social discussion appears in an article, factual claims are supported separately.

3. Recommendations must explain the decision

The TALOA Edit avoids generic “best of” lists when a more useful question exists. A recommendation should clarify who it is for, what trade-off it solves, what is verified, what may change and why one option fits a specific occasion better than another.

4. We distinguish research from first-hand experience

TALOA does not present desk research as a personal visit, operating history or client result. As the company begins operating, first-hand observations may be added when they can be documented and dated. Until then, articles rely on transparent public evidence and clearly identified editorial analysis.

5. Commercial relationships do not erase disclosure

If TALOA later earns a commission, referral fee or commercial benefit from a venue, operator or service mentioned editorially, that relationship should be disclosed where it could reasonably affect a reader’s interpretation. Commercial availability is not the same as editorial quality.

6. Time-sensitive pages are reviewed and dated

Rules, openings, rankings, prices, transport conditions and operating requirements can change quickly. Time-sensitive guides display an updated date and should be revisited when a material source changes. A changed date must reflect an actual review or revision, not a cosmetic freshness signal.

7. Corrections are part of the standard

If a factual error is identified, TALOA should correct the page and, when the correction materially changes the decision a reader might make, update the article clearly. Corrections can be sent to hello@taloacolombia.com.

8. Website content has professional limits

Property Intelligence is designed to improve the questions an owner, investor or operator asks. It does not replace individualized legal, tax, structural, engineering, immigration or financial advice. Where professional judgment is required, the guide should state the boundary and direct the reader to the competent professional or authority.

Editorial objective: every published page should leave the reader better equipped to make a real decision—not simply better informed about keywords.
